5 Common Mistakes Everyone Makes When Choosing Paint Colors is an article I found this morning at the Huffington Post and to my surprise was referenced by a business coach of mine. Since Tobi Fairley is best known for her use of bold colors ( very hard to choose) I thought this was valuable to pass on to my readers.
Some design rules are meant to be broken. And then there’s color. While the vast array of palettes and fabric colorways allow some room for interpretation, too many options means even the pros among us are bound to take an occasional wrong turn around the color wheel.
Enter Tobi Fairley, award-winning designer and color maven, who recently hosted a course on using color in home design on creativeLIVE.com. Tobi chatted with the Huffington Post about the most common mistakes we make when choosing paint color for our homes… and the best ways to avoid them. Read more
Monday’s are the day I usually write about color because …. well it’s Monday and I usually need a nudge to get the week going. I woke up sick today I think mainly because I’ve been working non stop for months on projects with clients and on my new business the Kitchen Design Network and preparing for our upcoming kitchen renovation workshop being hosted at High Point Spring Market on Friday April 4th. So because it’s another dreary grey winter day and I’m not feeling well, my mind is wandering to a colorful beach town somewhere in the Caribbean that has my name on it for some much needed R and R for Rebecca Reynolds. Enjoy the colorful cottages that I long to live n one day and enjoy your week.
Many of these cottages are just that, cottages. While I can appreciate the granduer and design of large brand new coastal homes, these are the types of cottages where I would feel most at home. My winter project of restoring my mom’s old beach cruiser bicycle has now gone by the wayside since Spring is right around the corner but I’m bound and determined to get it down this Spring. Her old cruiser is yellow. In honor of my mom and her passing last June I’m hoping by the time this June rolls around I’ll be rolling around on her newly painted beach cruiser. As an artist my mom would totally appreciate a really fun color. What do you think I should paint it? Please leave me a comment.
Have a great week.
